Resolved Question: Where can I find a job on an island, preferably a smaller island, or an at sea fun job?
I want to work on a tropical island or at sea. I have considered the US Virgin Islands and Vieques Island, Puerto Rico but I seemingly can't find much work on indeed.com and virginislandsdailynews.com in these areas anytime I look. Maybe there is a website dedicated to island work I haven't found or maybe you are just supposed to apply the old fashioned way ie. in person. I am a US citizen so working abroad may be limited unless someone knows of an employer that sponsors workmanship. I have checked into the Oil and Gas industry as I know they have offshore opportunities, but the work is extremely physical and usually requires experience before going offshore. I have already checked into Disney cruises and their island in the Bahamas but even after two years of applying, I never receive a response. My qualifications are as follows: - 5 years hospitality mangement experience - 1 year corporate security director - 12 years combined total technology experience with 8 industry accredited technology certifications - 4 years administrative and coordination experience guys any help would be great. maybe someone knows of a smaller cruise boat outfit that isn't so difficult to receive into? I almost had a connection to a larger cruise operation but it fell through.

Resolved Question: HELP! Can you guys give me career ideas based on these parameters?
Alright. Here's the deal. I'm three decades old and I need to pick a career right now. I am going to give you every the information you could possibly need to help point me in the right direction. 1. In the order of the quality most preferred, I would like to find a career that provides: - a decent salary - is recession resistant - provides real opportunity for career advancement - can be initially tranied for in 2 years or less - offers flexible scheduling options (10 hour shifts, 12 hour shifts, etc) 2. Here is my personal profile that may bar me from or better qualify me for some of the suggestions you already have in mind. - 30 years old - good driving history - no criminal history or arrests - never been terminated from a job - very needy credit (thanks to the economy and loss of work) - no illegal substance use at every or bad habits such as tobacco use - good physical condition - high school diploma and around 38 college credits via computer crime investigations - single with no dependents and no tie downs - can travel heavily 3. Here is my professional profile that overviews my past experiences. - hospitality management and servicing - corporate security director - information technology support, client and server side (eight certifications held) - some basic insurance claim experience 4. Here are other areas of strong knowledge I have acquired. - law enforcement communications and operations such as dispatching and policing - private contract security operations - debt collection - aviation including general and some commercial knowledge 5. Here are some examples of a few things I would like doing. - working in or around water in warm climates - traveling - policing 6. Here are some examples of a few things I don't want to do. - nursing - cab cab driver (hah) - retail work of any nice even at a corporate level - dentist - paramedic / emt - firefighter - postal worker - oil field worker 7. Below are ideas I have already considered but probably can not successfully pursue because of my financial circumstance (required security clearances) or my age: - faa air traffic controller - most government jobs (due to bad credit and pending balances) - US coastguard officer - full time insurance adjuster - most financial services positions Any ideas you can give me would be great. Although my financial circumstance can rule out quite a few jobs that are either financially or information sensitive, not every good careers have credit requirements. So toss me ideas that maybe I haven't thought of! Thanks guys!

Resolved Question: Should I dumb my CV down?
At the moment I'm desperate for a job. I need to pay rent, and although I'm in the graphics field, I'm being quite picky with those nice of jobs because I'm prone to getting unmotivated if I'm working at a really corporate/uncreative company. I've decided the best option is to receive a hospitality job to tide me through, but I think my CV will work against me. What would you say hospitality employers want to hear when recruiting staff? In every honesty, I'm looking at staying in this nice of job for maybe 6 months, and the last time I worked in hospitality was 5 years ago, although I have worked in retail since then. I'm not a great liar, I just want to figure out what employers would want to hear, and approach it from that direction. Help! In response to Katy's answer: I guess maybe 'dumb down' was a needy choice of words. I guess what I'm concerned about is that, when a hospitality employer looks at my CV, it's obvious that I'm interested and trained in a different field, and therefore may not want stay in hospitality for a long time. Which, lets face it, is true. And I'm sure hospitality is full of people like that, but odds on they lied on their CV's. But I take your point. I'm going to give it my best shot today with a version of the truth on my CV, if that doesn't work out I guess plan b.

Resolved Question: How can I make myself more marketable?
I have a BA in Communications (just graduated in May), 6 years experience with catering weddings and corporate events, and I currently work as a travel agent (1 year). I would adore to receive into event planning. I am mostly interested in planning corporate events, so I picture myself working for a big company planning their events (possibly even travel, too), or working for a big hotel as their event planner. I am thinking of applying to a bunch of the larger corporations in my city, as well as hotels, but how can I make myself more marketable? I have the look and attitude. I think working as a travel agent right now helps, but what classes should I take at the local University? Marketing? Management? Hospitality? What types of internships do you think would help if they were added to my resume? Thanks!

Resolved Question: What is the best way to get an amusement park interview?
For my hospitality management course in college, I have to interview someone in the field. What I really want to do is interview either an HR manager at a local amusement park or the hotel division manager at the amusement park. Now, the odds are they will say what every corporate people will say, "I don't have time". What would the proper way be, to entice a manager, to participate in this? I would like to either send them an e-mail or a letter. I wish you can help me out with this, as this is what I really want to go in to as a manager. Thank you so much!

Open Question: How is the Miami job market when it comes to the professional services industry?
I know that Miami pretty much runs off of tourism and hospitality but I also do know that more Fortune 500 businesses are establishing themselves down there as well. I have a background in recruiting and am looking to go into either corporate recruiting, executive search recruiting, or the world of management consulting. I'm looking to receive an MBA from UMiami or UF and want to know: How is the job market if I go school there and looking to set up store while in school and beyond? Can I receive a solid job in the professional services industry in Miami? How's this sector like down there?

Resolved Question: I have a fellony in New Hampshire from 2003 October?
I was convicted of Possesion of Ketamine a controlled substance. This occured as I stated over. I was told at the time of pleading guilty that I would receive 2 years probation which I served and am off of it and did not jail time for it or while on probation. My lawyer I really felt did not like me, he was a free one. He told me that in 5 years I could ask to receive it expounged and then receive my rights reenvoked. When I spoke to him recently he said it's 7 years now and that I better apply just after October, that if I apply early it will receive denied and I will have to wait 2 more years to try again. From what I know is that it was 5 years not 7 but I have no one to talk to about this and trying to receive a lawyer to answer a question on the phone is next to impossible . I have a newborn child and my wife is in the Navy .I graduated that year 2003 when convicted with an Associate of Science in Culinary arts and a Diplome from a Le cordon Bleu affiliated school. I am also currently studying Hospitality Management at the moment to further my education while I wait to receive this felony removed so I can receive a good corporate job to help support my family. I am 29 and have not repeat drug offened since this has happend well I did receive 2 driving after revocation tickets but I don't look them as a criminal act . Well it is but not that serious. I just want a normal life back. Here in Virginia where we are stationed every place I tried from Deli's to resorts even Burger King which is very degrating.. every told me that they won't hire me and they have the right to not hire a fellon . It says it clearly on the application. What can I do, and has my time came to apply or is it 7 years. I also heard a judge can allow an earlier release since I have a newborn child to help support. My wife is going to be a Military Police officer and plans to go into law enforcement and this would be difficult to not be able to be around her when she has a gun. I'm a non violent felon. A college party mistake caused every this.. Any help would be great ful. peace be with you.

Resolved Question: What's a good job for someone who enjoys working with people?
For so long I thought I wanted an admin job and I have one but after months of doing data entry and such, I'm finding myself unhappy with the job. At my other job in a resort, I worked as a front desk clerk and enjoyed interaction with customers, telling them about the best places to go, ideas for trips, etc. It didn't pay enough and I thought this office job as an admin would be just great. But I'm finding working for a corporate company is not as enjoyable and sitting at the computer for 8 hours a day at a desk isn't my cup of tea. I have an interest in the medical field and I like hospitality, what type of jobs would have a second shift in these categories? Thanks!

Voting Question: Should I just work or take classes too?
Last year I graduated from a 4 year college and started doing freelance work so I could eventually receive a marketing or design position for a big company but I ended up not liking it anymore so 6 months later I took an internship that involved some event planning. I stuck w/ that internship for 6 months but unfortunately the company had no open positions. During the freelance work and internship I would help manage two family hotels. So I thought I would receive back into the hospitality industry and eventually work my way up to event sales or marketing. I just got a job w/ a big hotel who's management company is in the same area. The job is entry level so it will take me a while before I can eventually receive to do what I want. I was thinking about taking hospitality management classes that are centered around event sales so that I also have the educational background in hospitality and not just the experience. When I went on interviews at hotels, it seemed like that they liked the experience more than the education but I don't want to work in a hotel every my life, I want to work up to corporate or a management company. Should I still take classes or not?

Resolved Question: Should I leave my current job for a job that pays a lot more?
Should I leave my current job for a temp job that pays a lot more? I'm currently working in the hospitality field and I've been working with this company for a little over a year. I like the job and there could be room for advancement but not for a few years from now I think and I only receive 8.50 an hr. I had an interview for a corporate company today and they offer to pay 20hr but it's an hr away from home and it's a temp job so I'd be working from Sept to mid January covering for someone's maternity leave. Would this new job offer be worth my while? Or should I stay at my current job? My pal that used to work at my current job works for this company and referred me and I am currently struggling with my bills for the time being, and a job like this is very tempting. Any suggestions or thoughts?

Resolved Question: What do you think of this?
http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,27312605-5018866,00.html NRL consider dramatic overhaul with plan to clip match times to 60 minutes By Phil Rothfield June 24, 2010 The NRL is considering the most dramatic overhaul of the code in a generation, with a bold plan to clip match times to just 60 minutes to avoid player burnout. The revolutionary proposal also calls for the NRL season to be lengthened to 30 weeks to ensure a level playing field for every clubs with a full home and away schedule. The radical plan emerged at the NRL's chief executives summit this week amid widespread concern about the unfairness of the current draw and further alarm about the brutal workload on the game's superstars. The architect of the project is Wests Tigers boss Stephen Humphreys, a former senior British Airways executive whose dad Kevin ran the game in the 1970s and 1980s. While still in its infancy, the vision for an NRL revolution is already gaining momentum among the game's key decision-makers because of the extra revenue it would deliver through television rights, sponsorship, corporate hospitality and ticket sales. my comments? its from the article....

Resolved Question: Learn Chinese (Mandarin), Japanese, or Hindi?
Please take the time to read the entire details area. I'm currently a double major in finance & accounting with a minor in hospitality management. I honestly don't know what I am going to do yet but it is obviously going to have something to do with accounting and/or finance in a corporate environment and I want a language that will help me with getting and excelling at a job. I have the chance to study abroad in one of three places and I want to learn the language that corresponds. Here are the various choices and corresponding situations/details. Any well thought out advice is greatly appreciated. -every three schools are well respected and advanced in education and I am getting a wealth of scholarships to help in funding a majority of costs. 1. Pondicherry, India @ IISAC http://www.semesterinindia.org/ - it will be easy to receive course credit transfered from here, it is very affordable, their website is extremely informative, India is very dirty, . Most people in India talk English so Hindi may not be as much of an asset. 2. Shanghai, China @ ECNU http://english.ecnu.edu.cn/ -it will be more difficult to receive credits transferred from here, very affordable, nice looking but not informative website, Shanghai is polluted. Mandarin seems to be the most in demand language and therefore would be the largest asset but take into account every the details and situations before you advise me to pick this. 3. Tokyo, Japan @ ICU http://www.icu.ac.jp/index_e.html -I am hands down most interested in Japanese culture, great non polluted environment, fresh/healthy food, very expensive, very modern school, same difficulty in transferring credits as China, very informative website, Mandarin is also taught here. Japanese seems valuable as a language but not nearly as much as Mandarin and Hindi but the biggest factor at this school is that the school/living costs here are almost twice as expensive as the other two.

Resolved Question: Parents using the legal system against their children as discipline; unethical or a good idea?
My god fearing parents used the legal system against me as a way to discipline me when I was eighteen years old. They thought by using it, it would make a good lesson for me to learn by, and honestly weren't aware that they had the power to change their claims in the courtroom to handle it was a family affair rather than a legal affair. Details of the case itself are not too important, but the case was minor, extremely reversible, but the outcomes were damaging to my reputation the professional world. every as been forgiven and everyone has been on great terms. However, its been nearly ten years, and I have since then started my possess family and have not been able to complete my education or land a successful job. I work very difficult and honestly for the money I make. I have been hired for many high end managerial retail and hospitality jobs (I live very close to Beverly Hills) and have been let go on the first day due to not passing background check. This has happened five times. I do not qualify to work for the government or most corporate positions. I have started my possess business twice photography related which has failed due to the economy and most work being outsourced to those accepting much lower pay. I have been in and out of welfare programs, resorted to using debt as a way to make ends meet, and now owe quite a bit of money. The restitution bill on the case where my parents were named victims has not been paid; every time I receive close to being ale to pay it, something goes awry. I have therefore not been eligible to expunge it, and would not like to use a personal loan to pay for it. My younger sister just closed escrow on her first home. I am very excited for her, but a little disappointed that I have not had the same opportunity to be as successful as her, and I've tried many different avenues. My dad called me earlier today. He wants to try to reverse the verdict of the case which he filed ten years ago because he feels that this has gone on just a little too long and damaging to my family (my son and husband and our well being). He wants to pay a visit to their local courthouse and take a look at the case files to look what his options are. I'm a little dumbfounded on how he could think the law can be used with such carelessness as long as you are a parent. I've never blamed my parent's bad decision on my downfall these last ten years, as I did disrespect commit a crime against them ten years ago. But they have said to me and literally thought by making life a little harder for me would only last a few months and then steer me on track, not make life difficult for me to survive for ten years. I have to say that as a parent myself, I would never use the system on my child as punishment, no matter how major or minor the incident may be. This incident, which was fairly minor, has cost me tens of thousands of dollars over the years, has cost the state thousands of dollars, and has claimed ten years of my life that I will never receive back. My question is: I'm a little fuzzy on how to address their needy judgement, their lack of understanding for how the law works, and am wondering where to go from here with my dad?

Resolved Question: What are the best southern cities?
Real southern architecture, hospitality, classy, history and charming. What cities fit this? I've been to several southern cities and this is how I felt: New Orleans- Awesome architecture, friendly people, a lot of original stores & restaurants Atlanta- Alright. Pretty corporate and not much of a southern vibe. Some nice houses in the suburbs, but overall, not what I like Dallas- 100% what I do not like. Way too many chain stores. It seems like wall-marts, malls, and other institutions run everyday life. Very boring architecture, and is more of a western town than a southern one. Charleston- 100% what I adore. This is the definition of southern charm. BTW, feel free to name off smaller towns as well. I could care less if there are 2,000 or 200,000. Nature is also an important element. I know some places on the bayou may not be the richest, but I could care less as long as it still has that slow pace way of life without stripe malls that cover every the natural beauty around it.

Resolved Question: Americans. Do you consider this White Australian Billionaires to be another Racist?
BILLIONAIRES Andrew "Twiggy" Forrest and James Packer have urged business leaders to join their campaign in trying to end indigenous disadvantage through employment. Australia's two richest men this morning hosted a breakfast for corporate barons at an Aboriginal hospitality training centre in Sydney's Darlington as part of the launch of GenerationOne, a public awareness campaign designed to encourage employers to offer jobs to Aborigines. The campaign will be officially launched tonight by Kevin Rudd at a function at Sydney's Overseas Passenger Terminal, with the likes of Cate Blanchett and Russell Crowe joining around 400 business leaders in attendance. "I know that Aboriginal people have every bit the ability any of us in this room have, and I know for sure they work as difficult and when they arrive on board and join your company they will add value to your business," Mr Forrest told the breakfast. But the Fortescue Metals boss, who lived in Aboriginal boarding hostels as a boy in remote Western Australia, emphasised the jobs should not be offered out of charity, but in recognition of the value that can be added by indigenous workers. "This isn't about charity. If you go out and employ a blackfella, fantastic. But if you feel charity in your heart when you do it you've lost it," he said. "You employ Aboriginal people because they add value to your business, because they're as smart as paint and they can be trained like any of us can be." Featuring a TV advertisement campaign, interactive website and 28-cease national roadshow, the GenerationOne campaign is being privately funded by Mr Forrest, Mr Packer and Seven Network boss Kerry Stokes, with support from the likes of David Gyngell, Steven Lowy, Andrew Fox and John Hartigan of News Limited, the publisher of The Australian, It will run in conjunction with Mr Forrest's Australian Employment Covenant, an initiative he founded two years ago with the federal government in a bid to provide 50,000 indigenous jobs. So far almost 20,000 jobs have been pledged. Mr Packer, who attended the breakfast alongside wife Erica and mom Ros, told the function that he had always known he could do more to help end indigenous disadvantage, but not how that help could be delivered. "For me what has never been reachable - touchable - is the way to do it," the gaming magnate said. "I'm just very grateful that Andrew Forrest has pulled this every together and has, with his team, developed a way people can make a real difference - one person at a time, one job at a time, one life at a time." below the program Consolidated Media has so far employed 60 indigenous people, with another 50 positions to be filled in coming months, Mr Packer said. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/news/andrew-twiggy-forrest-urges-big-business-to-hire-indigenous-australians/story-e6frg906-1225842841164 If so, why?

Voting Question: What jobs can I get with two misdemeanor charges in Maryland from 2003? I'm a student now at USU.?
I was arrested on 2 separate occasions in Maryland (Frederick, and Wicomico county) when I was younger. It was tardy 2003. During that time and a little afterwards I received more charges and got in more trouble but luckily always got the dropped or dismissed. I DO NOT have any felonies. My record has 2 misdemeanor thefts, a DUI, and a destruction of property. Since this bad time in my life I cleaned up, got on the right track and now have to declare a Major at Utah State University pretty soon here. Here is my MAIN QUESTION: What jobs can I never below and circumstances do and what can I do? What can I do to correct this (I don't believe i can have them expunges or sealed in Maryland). Are there any majors I should consider? I would adore to go into Hotel Management and Hospitality, Casino Management, or any type of Corporate business like my dad. Anything you can suggest would be helpful. Thank you every! OH BY THE WAY, THE 2 CONVICTIONS WERE FOR MISDEMEANOR THEFT!

Voting Question: Americans VS European celebrations?
When i went to Europe-I noticed that when it comes to enjoying life, from weddings to Easter to Xmas to Bdays they go every out and like til 4 in the morning w/ family friends? lol..its like Easter/xmas/newyears is massive celebration. The country shuts down for 5 days. Every hour of the day family relatives arrive to celebrate. They arrive and go. weddings are massive without so many LAWS. The hospitality is amazing with bottles of alky food that keeps coming and dancing til morning Its like in America its Easter and every business is open and you look ppl still lined up at quick food joints. No celebration or class Or they are in a rush. They will go one day with family celebrate and go home again and start the wake up-traffic-work-traffic-home snooze routine. Weddings are reserved at typical corporate hotels with a thousand LAWS lol. No smoking. Only bar. must leave after 12:49 am. Its like restaurents literally toss a check at you in an hour saying leave after eating junk. In euro countries u can sit there for 3-4 hours eat drink have a good time.

Resolved Question: How many of you can pay Rs 2, 50, 000/- plus to a hospital for saving life of a dear-one?
Big hospitals are like five star hotels… less hospitality and humanitarian values. They display sign-boards saying something like the following: “This Hospital Provides Free Treatment to needy / Needy Patients”… However I don’t think that they might be doing so… If you go for angiography they will take every the charges in advance and on receiving the computer-generated receipt… they will start the angiography… by inserting a catheter for this purpose… during angiography… the person accompanying the patient would not be shown the views on the monitor live… for convincing him as to which artery has what percentage of blockage… Instead, the surgeon will arrive out of the operation theatre (OT) … leaving behind the catheter right inside the body of the patient… and explain the blockage with the help of a ball-pen on a printed sketch of the arteries on a paper… the surgeon will ask at this moment to take immediate decision whether he should go-ahead with angioplasty… or remove the catheter from the body of the patient… The accompanying assistants, naturally, agree for angioplasty… and then they are asked to pay the charges… and show the computer-generated receipt… as the surgeon will not go ahead with angioplasty without seeing such receipt… the catheter is kept inserts inside the body of the patient until the payment is done on the cash counter and the assistant brings the receipt to the surgeon… Price for angioplasty in private hospitals in Delhi is Rs 2,50,000/- whereas you will receive the same treatment in Nagpur for Rs 1,50,000/- or less... Even in Delhi the charges might be less in Govt aided hospitals like AIIMS and likes... It is needed that a standard fee should be fixed for various treatments / surgeries… in every hospitals… whether they are private or government aided… lest their licence should be cancelled… Private hospitals owned by corporate houses should be asked not to run their units as commercial shops… merely for earning fortunes… they should be reminded the ‘oath‘ the doctors use to take at the time of their convocation… 3 days ago - 4 days left to answer. *** This question is based on a question asked by 'vishwa'... following is the link... http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind... and another question by me… following is the link… http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AimOux5uFSgYZbrUkossZniQHQx.;_ylv=3?qid=20080611010847AApFdrh

Resolved Question: Should I call back? help!?
I am really confused... I interviewed for a job last week on TUESDAY for a sales job in the hospitality industry. Friday, I called the GM and followed up. I didn't reach him, left a voicemail. He returned my call a while later (I was working couldn't answer) and said I am glad to report you are one of the final candidates, the corporate sales director should be giving you a call next week, I am not sure what day I will try to find out and give you a heads up. I will be in the office another hour if you want to call back, talk to you soon. I didnt receive the message right away, so I couldn't call back. Its now Tuesday mid-day. I haven't heard anything. SHOULD I call him back? What can I say? I don't want to look annoying, but I want to seem interested, which I am! I am darn close waiting next to the phone. And very excited about the position. What should I do? And what should I say? HELP!!

Resolved Question: Have you ever been to the races?
I have been invited to a corporate hospitality day at the races. The venue is Aintree Racecourse and I believe it will be in some nice of marquee with a private viewing platform, and there is to be morning coffee, 4 course lunch and drinks. I really need to know what to expect. What should I wear? I would really appreciate any advice from anyone who is familiar with this nice of event. Will I be able to or expected to place bets and if so how much money should I take? I have no idea as to the etiquette and I am new to the company and feel quite shy about asking any of my colleagues, plus the fact that the PA I am working with is a really sophisticated type and I do not want to appear to be the company mouse. BTW I put this in CE because I had no answers in horse racing.

Resolved Question: Would you appreciate Ekta Kapoor for the hospital scene in “Kahani… ” on 10th June?
Would you appreciate Ekta Kapoor for showing the real character of big hospitals in the 10th June episode of “Kahani Ghar Ghar Kii”…? She showed how the multimillionaire Om Agarwal was insulted, pushed, thrashed, and abused by the surgeon, staff and the security personnel of a ‘big’ hospital for a meagre sum of Rs 75,000/-… in spite of having paid well in advance the charges for surgery… This is not simply a fiction… this indeed, happens 24 x 7 only in India… In general... the advanced technology, knowledge and infrastructure are accessible to limited number of patients who can spend enormous money in big private hospitals... If we don’t have money… then we either sell-out our property and receive treated… or just wait for breathing our last … These hospitals are like five star hotels… less hospitality and humanitarian values. Resolved Question: what do I do? I have $350, no job, no kids, and no wife. I'm running out of options and time fast.?
I need a reasonable job. I'm willing to lower my salary expectations but not from $40,000 a year to $7.50 an hour. $13-$15 would be great considering the circumstances. This economy has destroyed me like many others. I live in Tampa but am temporarily visiting relatives in New York City until I can figure out what to do. I voluntarily gave up my car after financial collapse. 11 years of -perfect- consumer credit is now completely destroyed.. i have 40 college credits, maintain several Microsoft and CompTIA computer certifications, have management and corporate security experience along with public sector experience (working below contract to the Federal Emergency Management Agency during disasters), general administrative experience and hospitality servicing experience at high profile and exclusive resorts. I can live anywhere and move anywhere providing there is work. I've looked into everything using indeed.com for almost two years. This includes "live anywhere" jobs, telecommuting jobs, jobs that require extensive travel, international work, work on islands like Puerto Rico, USVI, etc. I can not find anything. I have several applications pending with a major airline but it doesn't look good. I need guidance and a job quick. In Florida, you can find QUICK income in the time of need by getting a rent a cop security job that pays $10.00 an hour which is accomplished by simply getting a D class license from the state after completing required educational hours. And you're virtually guaranteed work once you have it. In New York, since the expectations are much higher, meeting a security licensing requirement means absolutely nothing and even if you receive selected doesn't pay more than $10-$11 an hour. Higher taxation, higher transportation costs (with public transit use every day) and the same pay. Amazing. Maybe there's a METRO AREA that is doing ok in this country with public transit I can turn to? Or a US territory or island that has a lucrative economy still I can become a part of? ULTIMATELY, I am trying to work on an island somewhere, preferably tropical but this may not be the time since I'm limited on funds unless I can secure work ahead of time. Any suggestions? Please? PS - If I cant find anything, I'm moving to an island and laying on the beach (look my other posts). I'll rot and decay at which point I could careless about anything.

Resolved Question: Aren't you people proud to be part of this great game?
The great Indian circus- IPL has landed in South Africa and the buzz in South Africa is unmistakable —the anticipation and excitement is really high. Ali Bacher, former head of Cricket South Africa and a shrewd observer of cricket's dynamics, thinks the IPL this time will be huge. This feeling is not unfounded, considering the interest seen in Durban and Jo'burg. Cassim Docrat, CEO at Kingsmead, says the demand is staggering, it is almost as if Bollywood has landed. Everyone wants a piece of the action — from tour operators to PR agencies to local suppliers. At Centurion, Elise Lombard, CEO of the Titans for the past decade and a half, is equally surprised by the strong corporate interest for the IPL. Sitting in her neat office at Centurion (the book shelf has copies of Wisden since 1900 and biographies of Ali, Cronje and Shane Warne) Elise heads an organization that combines cricket with commerce. Supersports Park is designed to deliver spectator comfort, meets the needs of corporates and also maintains the traditions of cricket. The string of hospitality suites have excellent facilities but access to the super exclusive Committee Room is governed by a terse notice which says — Only Tie and Jacket, no kids. This is the power of cricket, it's bringing people and nations closer. Why can't we be part of this spirit? glad Easter to every in the Cricket section

Resolved Question: How do I change my life for the better?
Recently my boyfriend of 5 years and I broke up after he killed one of my pets in a drunken rage. I've been devastated. He was a jekyll and hyde nice of guy, a very good hearted, nice person when sober but watch out when he drank. In retrospect, I lived in fear. I don't want to receive too much into that because that's not what I'm in need of fixing. He's out, I'm glad now move onward to my healthy new life, but financially things are scary for me. I have years of experience in hospitality/ administrative in the corporate world but I was miserable while doing it so I switched to the not for profit world but my experience there is limited. Now I'm working part time and can't make ends meet. I've been on 5 2nd interviews but it seems I'm not up to par with what people want which is weird for me cuz I have a fun/vibrant personality and an abundance of skills. I've thought of going back to school (grants) also but really I'm just feeling lost and alone and wish I had some guidance...

Resolved Question: College major and career... heeelp?
I have no idea what I want to major in or what career I want to pursue, except that it will most likely be business related. I've always been a business-type person and it provides the lifestyle I prefer. Within business, there are a multitude of options for the college student. So, which degree is right for me? My aims are to land a corporate job with: * Competitive to high salary (base: $40-50K/yr, potential: $100K+/yr) * Good benefits (dental, medical, vision, tuition reimbursement, etc) * Perks (gotta adore corporate discounts) * High growth rate * Stability * Promotion opportunities Now, the areas I think I would like studying are * Administration/Management * Economics * Finance * International Business * Hospitality (Who wouldn't want to possess a hotel? lol) Any insights as to the best track to my dream job? I know with Economics, Finance, International or Administration it's possible to climb every the way to CEO in the Corporate world, but let's look at base opportunities first.
